The Way I See It — A New Chapter for The Steel Box

updates

We’ve rebuilt thesteelbox.com from the ground up, and with it we’ve taken a fresh look at what The Steel Box is for.

The answer turned out to be what it was from the start. When we first opened the containers as a pop-up for Coorg’s makers, the idea was to help creative people earn from their work without having to run a shop themselves. That’s still the heart of it.

So The Steel Box is now, first and foremost, a curated store: homemade goods, gifts and souvenirs from independent makers, sold by our shopkeeper in Ammathi, and soon online too. The deck above the containers is still there if you need a quiet place to work in Coorg.

Running the store taught us that small businesses need simple tools, so we built our own billing and stock system. We’re now sharing it, along with AI tools, courses and talks for entrepreneurs, under Tools & learning.

The old posts about building the containers are all still here, gathered into The Build. They’re where this all began.
